Mt. Kilimanjaro 2 Days / 1 Night Climb From Nairobi (Rongai Route)

Overview

Nairobi – Mama Africa Eco- Tented Camp

Day 1. Depart Nairobi and drive to slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the upper catchment of Amboseli ecosystem at Mama Africa Eco- Tented Camp. Acclimatization walking excursions across the village trails to Sonkoro water tank,an agricultural productive area settled by Maasai and other tribes between Mt.Kilimanjaro N/P and Amboseli N/P. Cultural immersions and great views of Mt. Kilimanjaro massif peaks, the icebergs of chyullu hills and Amboseli plains and sunrise /sunset photography. Return to the camp for overnight.

Mama Africa Eco-Tented Camp (FB)

Rongai Gate/Nalemoru – Nairobi

 Day 2. Drive from the Eco-Tented Camp to Nale Moru gate for the necessary registration formalities. The climb starts at the village of Nale Moru (1,950 m.) at 8am through fields of maize and potatoes before entering pine forest. The climb is consistently and gently through attractive forest that shelters a variety of wildlife. Reaching first Campsite, at the edge of the moorland zone (2,600 m.), giving you extensive views over the Kenyan plains(7km, 3-4 hrs Trekking).  Continue with steady walk ascent up to the ‘Second Cave’ (3,450 m.) Start seeing Kibo Peak and the Eastern ice fields on the crater rim. (7km, 3-4 hrs Trekking

2^nd Caves Camp (FB)

 Mt. Kilimanjaro  2^nd  Caves  –  3^rd  Caves – Park Gate – Nairobi                     

Day 3. Dawn (5am) steady ascent up to the ‘Third Cave’ (3,600 m.) Start seeing Kibo Peak and the Eastern ice fields on the crater rim before sunrise. Great photos of Kilimanjaro massif and the plains below. After some further above 3^rd caves descend back to 2^nd caves for breakfast (10am), descend further past 1^st caves into the rainforest for picnic lunch (1pm). Walk down to the park gate (3pm), bid farewell to the guide and porters the drive to Nairobi to arrive at 6pm.
